Atlanta, Lawrenceville Set Temperature Records

Both the official Atlanta thermometer and the one I have here recorded record temperatures for March 25th today. Atlanta recorded a high of 87 degrees at 3:13 PM, while here in Lawrenceville, the high was 87.4 degrees at 4:37 PM. The previous record high for Atlanta was 86, set back in 1929.

Here at the end of March, we should be seeing highs around 68 degrees, and overnight lows near 46. It will probably only get down to around 60, which might make tonight a good night to fire up the air conditioner.

Athens got up to 88 degrees, one degree short of their record, also set in 1929. Macon tied their record temperature of 90 degrees, and Columbus recorded 89, beating their previous record temperature of 87 set back in 1954.

Today is the last day of the really excessive (for March) heat. Highs tomorrow will be lucky to break 80, and highs will hover in that area through the end of the week. By next weekend, we may finally see some rain, and some below normal temperatures. Highs next Saturday and Sunday will be around 65 degrees, and may stay below 70 through Masters week.
