...RIVER RISES EXPECTED IN THE CASCADES THIS WEEKEND...

A WET PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM HAD BEGUN TO PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS
OF PRECIPITATION ALONG THE CASCADE CREST...AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO
SO THROUGH THE WEEKEND. INITIALLY THE PRECIPITATION WILL FALL AS
SNOW AND THEN TRANSITION TO ALL RAIN FRIDAY MORNING. THOUGH MOST OF
THE PRECIPITATION WILL FALL ON THE WESTERN SIDE OF THE CASCADE
CREST...SUFFICIENT AMOUNTS WILL FALL ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE CREST
TO PRODUCE RISES ON AREA RIVERS AND STREAMS.

AT THIS TIME ONLY MINOR RISES ARE EXPECTED ON MOST MAIN STEM
RIVERS LOCATED ALONG THE EAST SLOPES OF THE CASCADES AND FLOODING IS
NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME. SMALLER RIVERS AND STREAMS...ESPECIALLY
THOSE IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF CHELAN AND WESTERN OKANOGAN
COUNTIES...MAY SEE SIGNIFICANT AND RAPID RISES DUE TO THE HEAVY
PRECIPITATION. RESIDENTS IN AND AROUND THESE RIVERS AND STREAMS
SHOULD MONITOR RIVER LEVELS CLOSELY.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO MONITOR DAILY WEATHER AND RIVER FORECAST FROM
YOUR NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OR LOCAL MEDIA ON THIS DEVELOPING
SITUATION.
